Join us in West Texas for this tour around Big Bend
Anyone is welcome to join. Our general itinerary is below.
We are tent camping in the Chisos Basin for this one, and the field trip max is limited to 12 but I’m shooting for 8-10.
Gear is available if you don’t have your own. (backpacking tents, NEMO Equipment Sleeping bags and Sleeping pads, limited backpacks)
Temperatures average 65 during the day and in the 30s at night, but It’s Big Bend so it can be warmer or cooler. Come prepared (packing list will be sent)
You’re welcome to transport yourself or we can arrange transportation if you lie betwixt Houston and Big Bend.
This is a medium strenuous trip. Hikes are planned are 1-5 miles in length but there are options and attractions for everyone. We will talk about the geology of the park at a college level. You don’t need to be an expert to appreciate the volcanism and dinosaurs in the area! If you’ve been to Big Bend in the past, you might learn something new. Maybe not. Depends on how smart you are. You’ll still have fun.
